Unidentified pockmarked prisoner from S-21 prison in Phnom Penh. It is likely this man was one of the Khmer Rouge's own soldiers who were suspected of treason, incarcerated, tortured, and then killed. Tuol Sleng photographer Nhem Ein estimated that less than two percent of the prison's occupants were guilty as charged. Ultimately, thousands of Pol Pot's loyal soldiers and civil servants were brought to S-21 to be eliminated. Photo: © Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocide
