A 1977 photograph of S-21 prison guards, including Him Huy, fourth from left, who, according to two of the prison survivors, was the most feared of all the guards. Him Huy's job was also to drive truckloads of prisoners to Choeng Ek, a few miles away, where they were executed; in most cases prisoners were killed from a blow of an ox-cart axle to the head, so as to conserve precious bullets. Former guard Him Huy now lives outside Phnom Penh with his family, growing beans.
